From a long standing series on the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City. One of the pleasures of walking about this great cathedral is discovering its many treasures that are tucked away and yet also reside in plain site. This one is hard to miss.
The alter piece, The Life of Christ by Keith Haring resides in the chapel of St. Columba. Cast in bronze and covered in white gold it depicts the story of Christ in stunning fashion. It is both elegantly simple and complex all at the same time
The chapel of St. Columba is one of seven chapels in the cathedral dedicated to the various immigrant groups that were prominent in this country at the time of the founding of the cathedral in the late eighteen hundreds. This chapel is dedicated to the immigrants of Great Britain.
