Cathedrals are pretty much always built facing east. Facing east means good light early in the day. Early in the day means there are not many people in the cathedral. Not many people makes it easier for me to photograph certain areas of the cathedral. No denying the early morning sun as it streams thru the windows of the chapel of St. Saviour, flowing out over the high alter, thru the choir and crossing and down the nave. There were only two of us and the ever present security guards during this early morning visit. Occasionally I'm the only one... early mornings, quite and peaceful, a favorite time.
